About Failing Forward On The Road To Success

Welcome to my blog site! This is a blog where I get to share what I’ve learned and experienced from more than half a century of life, in hopes that I might spark even a few others to go for their dreams regardless of where they are now, and to fully embrace the truth that YOU, and no one else, are the author of your own life!

So what’s with the odd name of my site, Failing Forward On The Road To Success? I am someone who has lived more than half a century. As a result, I have both succeeded and failed at virtually everything I’ve done in my life. Some things I’ve succeeded more at and others I’ve failed miserably at. I have both succeeded and failed as a mother and grandmother. I have both failed and succeeded in marriage (currently succeeding I am happy to report). I have succeeded at holding down a steady job since I was 15 years old, but failed to fully realize my potential. I’ve succeeded at gathering a wealth of knowledge, but failed at fully implementing that knowledge in my life. I’ve succeeded at many things in my life, but often failed to follow through with what it takes to FULLY realize my dreams. But, each failure has been a step forward on my road to success.

I am an entrepreneur who, until recently, treated my business more as a hobby than an actual business. As a result, my dreams were just that … dreams! Then, because I was fortunate enough to have others in my life who believed in me way more than I ever could (at that time), I was blessed to participate in life-changing events which dramatically shifted my vision of my future!

I will talk much more throughout the course of this blog site about the important difference between dreams, goals, activity and vision. I will also talk about some of the things I love that impact how I go about life—things that I have found make life harder and things that I have found make life easier, things I find that make me sad and other things that make me bust my gut with joy and laughter, and things that have profoundly helped to change my perspective of what is truly possible!

In short, this blog is about life and business, and learning to fully embrace the “mistakes” we’ve made in our lives, the tragedies and/or traumas we’ve experienced, and the successes we’ve achieved no matter how small or big. Embracing the truth that our past has made us who we are today, and without each and every experience we would not be who we are at this moment in time. Finally, coming to a place of acceptance and forgiveness for things in our past that we maybe don’t like, and using EVERY experience to create the future that we’ve always dreamed of. In short, to BECOME the person we always knew was inside of us, but somehow lost along our individual paths called life.

Thomas Edison once stated, “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” When asked about the many failures he experienced while experimenting to develop the incandescent light bulb, he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Thomas Edison fully embraced what this blog site is all about—failure is not “failure,” but rather a step along the path to success!
